Application process

The first step in becoming a St. Joseph Health, St. Mary volunteer is to read our introduction letter for interested volunteers then download an application. Once you have completed this pre-application form it can be emailed to us at StMary.Volunteer@stjoe.org or mailed to the address below. We will contact you regarding the possibility of volunteering at St. Mary within 7 to 10 business days of receipt of your pre-application. St. Joseph Health, St. Mary Volunteer Services, 18300 Highway 18. Apple Valley, CA 92307. Application Process: All applications are reviewed by Director, Volunteer Services (DVS). We review each application received and work to match your interests, background, motivation, availability and previous experience with our needs. We will notify you for a possible interview within 7 to 10* business days of receipt of application. All others will be notified via e-mail. Junior volunteers: Due to the high demand of this program, we have a waiting list of about a year. Clearance on the following after the interview: Background check (2-3 weeks, Adults only); Health Assessment and immunizing screening, which includes Tuberculosis (TB) skin testing (two), and labs. For those with a history of positive TB skin test, a chest x-ray will be ordered; Picture for badge; All must attend an all day hospital orientation (on a Monday); Junior Volunteers: Orientation is usually in the spring and fall and in the evenings. You will be notified via e-mail and/or mail. Following orientation you will need to complete online computer training regarding St. Mary policies and procedures.
