HospitalVolunteer.net exists to help people find hospital and healthcare volunteer opportunities near them, and to help volunteer programmes be found. That is the whole purpose, and it is the test we apply when deciding what belongs here.
HospitalVolunteer.net is an independent directory. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of the hospitals and healthcare organisations listed here, unless a listing explicitly says otherwise.
Editorial decisions are independent of advertising. No organisation can pay to be included, to be excluded, to rank higher, to change how its volunteer link is described, or to have a correction ignored. See Advertising Disclosure.
A listing means we hold a record for that organisation. It is not a recommendation, an assessment of quality, a statement that its volunteer programme is well run, or confirmation that it is currently accepting volunteers.
Anyone can submit a new listing or suggest a change. Submissions are reviewed before they appear, and we may edit them for accuracy, clarity or formatting. We may decline a submission, and we may correct or remove information we believe to be wrong.
We want to be straightforward about the limits of that review: it is a check for plausibility and obvious problems, carried out by a small team. It is not an audit, and it is not confirmation with the organisation. We do not currently contact hospitals to verify what has been submitted.
When we have limited time, factual corrections take priority over requests to make a listing more prominent or more flattering. A wrong phone number, a dead volunteer link or a closed programme affects someone trying to volunteer; promotional wording does not.
We will not remove accurate information because an organisation dislikes it. We will always correct information that is genuinely wrong.
We distinguish carefully between two different things: an automated check that a web address still responds, and confirmation from an organisation that its programme is running. We currently do the first and not the second, and we try never to word the site as though a link check were a hospital's confirmation. Data Sources explains this in detail.
The directory contains a mix of hospitals and other healthcare organisations, and those distinctions are not yet applied consistently across every record. We expect to classify organisation types more precisely over time. Where that changes how a listing is presented, we will say so here rather than doing it quietly.
