Santa Ynez Valley residents saw the need to have their own community hospital in 1959. A concerned group of these citizens organized themselves in 1962 forming the Hospital Auxiliary Charter Members. These 68 Charter Members, community leaders and physicians made plans and worked tirelessly raising funds for a new hospital. They purchased land on Alamo Pintado Road in Solvang, hired an architect and later a contractor, and held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Santa Ynez Valley Hospital on January 31, 1964. The Hospital Auxiliary has worked tirelessly since then committing more than 15,000 volunteer hours each year to the hospital. Now is the perfect time to join this dedicated group of volunteers.
