Volunteer details

Rumford Hospital is grateful for the many volunteers who help keep the hospital attentive to the many details involved in providing the best care possible to patients and visitors. The first person to greet newcomers to the hospital is a Lobby Host, just one of our volunteer positions. Volunteers also work behind-the-scenes, helping medical offices with administrative tasks. They also help wherever they are needed - perhaps comforting babies in the nursery or working alongside Rumford Auxiliary members at fundraising events. One of our most popular volunteer programs is the Patient Visitor Program. Volunteers visit patients, to listen and to chat, and also to bring along a cart with books and puzzles for the patient’s entertainment. It’s a program that helps those who are staying awhile at Rumford Hospital and may not have friends or family who can visit regularly. Volunteers go through a standard Employee Orientation program in order to become familiar with Rumford Hospital’s employee policies and procedures, including confidentiality and privacy regulations.
