Join the dedicated and caring volunteers at Spectrum Health Pennock. To get started, follow these simple steps: Have two letters of reference submitted to us on your behalf. The references you select should send their letters directly to us. Instructions on how to submit these are listed on the form. Please do not select family members. Your references should be able to speak to your commitment and dedication as a potential volunteer. You will be responsible for ensuring that the reference letters are submitted to us. Complete an Application and fill out the criminal background check and return to volunteer services. You may email it to Sarah.Staple@spectrumhealth.org or mail it to: Spectrum Health Pennock, Foundation & Volunteer Services, 1009 W. Green St., Hastings, MI 49058. When we have received your application and two reference letters, we will review them to see if any open opportunities align with your interests. We will also run your background check at this time. If a match is identified, we will contact you by phone. If we cannot identify a match, your file will remain open for six months. We will contact you within that time if other openings become available that may interest you. If we contact you by phone, we will further discuss requirements, your availability, and our current openings. The next step is a face-to-face interview to talk in more detail. If we have mutually agreed to move forward, we must complete additional requirements (free of charge and with our assistance) such as two tuberculosis skin tests, seasonal flu shot, and possible immunizations if you are not up to date (for patient contact areas). Spectrum Health Pennock volunteers are required to attend an orientation session with the Volunteer Coordinator. This gives each volunteer the opportunity to learn about the organization, volunteer expectations, and ask questions if needed. Following the general orientation session, specific training is provided in the area in which you are assigned. Volunteers are provided training that will familiarize them with their new volunteer role and also the organization. Once these items are completed, our team refers you to your specific location. Before starting, the Volunteer Coordinator will provide you with parking instructions, a volunteer badge and also a volunteer uniform as you enter your new role.
