Hundreds of men and women of all ages have found fulfilling volunteer positions and have provided much-needed services at University Hospital since 1949. University is blessed with an amazing group of volunteers. University Volunteer Services has contributed $8 million to the hospital. Annually, volunteers donate more than 37,000 hours of service in 35 departments and donate to hospital programs, equipment and initiatives. Whether assisting departments that support patient care or being involved in fundraising efforts, University volunteers make an impact on our community. Their efforts are priceless. Transportation; Access Services; Sunshine Gift Shop: Main Lobby, Women's Center; Information Centers: Main Lobby, Second Floor, Outpatient Care Center; Waiting Room Liaison: Critical Care, Intensive Care, Cardiovascular/Open Heart, Surgical Services; Coffee Cart; Needlework: Items for patients; Clerical/Office Assistant; Physical/Occupational Therapy; Cardiopulmonary Rehab; Emergency Department; Endoscopy Department; Neonatal Unit: Rocking infants and assist staff as needed; Diabetes Education; Born to Read; Patient Care Areas; Breast Health Center; Volunteer Visitors; Rape Crisis/Sexual Assault Services
Adult volunteers must complete an application, attend an orientation, purchase a uniform and give at least six hours a month in a designated service. Volunteers are recognized annually for their service.
