We offer many opportunities to volunteer on the LewisGale Medical Center campus. Some of the areas that may be of interest to you are:
• Manage the information desk, transfer incoming calls to patient rooms and provide directions to visitors and patients.
• Deliver newspapers, flowers and mail to patients.
• Provide community information and serve beverages and cookies to families in the waiting rooms.
• Assist in patient discharge, fill water pitchers, visit with patients and their family members and run nurse errands.
• Assist non-patient departments with clerical support.All applicants are required to fill out an application and have a formal interview with the Volunteer Services Manager. After acceptance, new volunteers participate in an orientation and on-the-job training with a veteran volunteer. Volunteers are asked to work approximately four hours per week.
