The volunteer organization was established in 1960 by Louise Isbell Ashe. Ashe, a Sheffield resident, saw a need to assist the professional staff at the hospital. The volunteer organization has continued to grow and provide its assistance. The program currently has around 140 volunteers. Our volunteers are members of an exclusive organization. It is indeed an honor and a privilege to serve this community through the Volunteer Services program at Helen Keller Hospital. Hospital volunteers make a difference by donating their time and energies in service to others. For more information about volunteer opportunities at this hospital, visit the Helen Keller Memorial Hospital volunteer website.
