Volunteers from all walks of life and every local community choose to give their time and energy to Community Memorial Hospital/Sunnyside Health Care Center. They can be found serving in a multitude of ways, including assisting patients, delivering mail, menu service and meal delivery, providing transportation within the hospital, staffing the gift shop, playing cribbage with care center residents, maintaining facility gardens, taking Sunnyside residents on trips into the community, and distributing flowers. On Thursday afternoons, Junior Volunteers take a gift shop cart from room to room selling cards and gifts to residents and patients. Each Friday a “Snack Shop” is available for patients, staff and residents, completely staffed by our volunteers. Volunteers also lend support in a spiritual sense with Bible studies, services, music and the Grief Support Group. It’s our volunteers who put “community” in Community Memorial Hospital.
