CEDARS-SINAI MEDICAL CENTER

Volunteer details

Our volunteers are the heart and soul of Cedars-Sinai. Since the medical center opened, we have matched thousands of volunteers seeking to make a difference in people’s lives with hundreds of hospital assignments. Today, we have more than 2,000 volunteers from all walks of life who participate in our diverse volunteer opportunities and apply their unique skills and life experiences to their acts of service. At Volunteer Services, we consider ourselves an extended family, where our office acts as home base for all of our volunteers. For those interested in joining our team, we conduct intensive in-person interviews, during which we will talk with you about your reasons for volunteering, your interests and your abilities. We pride ourselves on our matchmaking skills that can place you in the best possible role. It’s why our volunteers stay with us, on average, for four years. Some remain for decades. We have opportunities that can offer you direct contact with patients and families, or that are more administrative in nature. You might choose to volunteer in the gift shop, deliver flowers or help in one of our visitation programs. You may even discover an assignment in an area of the hospital that initially did not interest you. Whichever volunteer activity you choose, you become an ambassador of empathy and compassion while making vital contributions to the life of our medical center.
