St. John Providence depends on volunteers to provide assistance for the patient, their families and hospital staff. Whether you’re a retiree wanting to give back to the community, a student exploring careers, or just have a simple desire to help others, there is a wide array of opportunities at St. John Providence. As a volunteer, you will meet new friends, develop new skills and rejuvenate your spirit by contributing your talent and skills to help others. St. John Providence offers various volunteer opportunities at the hospital sites and through many of its affiliate organizations. Assisting staff, patients, their families and visitors, is the primary purpose and goal of our volunteer program. Responsibilities and duties may vary depending on the program you select and types of services you wish to provide. The time you spend in volunteer activities can vary widely from a few hours a week to several hours a day. As a volunteer, you will be able to schedule times at your convenience that will fit into your lifestyle. You can volunteer at a location close to you. Application process

Complete a volunteer application. Submit the reference form that has been completed by someone who has known you for 6 months orlonger. (Family members are not acceptable). Complete the “Contingent Background Check Release Form”. Parental signature is also required forapplicants under 18 years old. A criminal background check will be conducted. Complete the “Confidentiality Agreement”. Parental signature is also required for applicants under 18years old. A parental consent form is required for applicants ages 16 or 17. Note: Applications for high schoolstudents are accepted only during the month of March for the Summer Student Volunteer Programunless they are part of an existing school partnership.
