Alvarado Hospital is proud of its volunteers who serve all areas of the hospital. Volunteers can choose to work at information desk, gift shop, patient care areas, emergency department, surgical waiting room, and many other opportunities.

Volunteer placements & services

Emergency Department; Gift Shop; Information Desk; Patient Care; Religious Support/Chaplains/Priests; Surgical Waiting Room; Stroke Peer Visitor Program; Food and Nutrition (dietary); Office Support/Clerical (various departments); Distribution (materials management); Health Information Services; Radiology; Therapies (physical therapy, occupational therapy, and therapeutic recreation, including restorative golf)

Application process

Before starting, volunteers are requested to complete the following: Application; Interview; Purchase a uniform; Pay annual auxiliary dues ($6 adults, $3 high school students); Complete two TB tests; Provide documentation of MMR; Complete the volunteer handbook quiz; Pass the HIPAA (patient confidentiality) exam; Complete training (one to three sessions, depending on area)
